Né en Allemagne, l’artiste photographe Sébastien Blanquet-Rivière a grandi en France, à Bordeaux.
Le cœur de son travail puise dans le concept de « corps sculptures ». En studio comme en extérieur, il photographie les corps dans leur forme la plus pure - nus- en s’inspirant notamment de la mythologie gréco-romaine.
Par son regard porté sur ces corps, il cherche à transmettre la vulnérabilité et la solitude de chacun d’entre nous.
Au fil de sa collaboration avec des mannequins, des danseurs du ballet de l’opéra de Bordeaux, des sportifs et notamment des surfeurs, Sébastien Blanquet-Rivière oriente de plus en plus son travail vers la représentation du corps masculin.
Il distille sa sensibilité artistique en magnifiant les corps entre pudeur et expression brute.
Born in Germany, the artist photographer Sébastien Blanquet-Rivière grew up in Bordeaux, France. The essence of his work revolves around the concept of body sculptures. In a studio and outside alike, he captures the body in its purest form – nude, drawing inspiration from Greek and Roman mythology. Through his lens, he strives to communicate the vulnerability and the loneliness of each and everyone of us.
Throughout his work with models, ballet dancers from the Opéra national de Bordeaux, sportsmen and in particular surfers, Blanquet-Rivière has growingly focused his work on the representations of the male body.
Deeply inspired by the early twenty-century queer movement, he expresses his creativity by magnifying bodies in a subdued yet raw fashion.
